1vs1 BZFlag Tournament 2008

This is a summary of the 1vs1 BZFlag Tournament 2008; its rules, participants, prizes, dates and winners.

Rules and Organisation

• The players first play in eight different groups and the best two players in each group will attempt the finals. The official matches must be declared using the /contest command. All championship games also count for the 1vs1 regular tournament. The servers will send me the results automatically, so you don't need to report them.
• Players are put in groups based on their ZELO score: players with similar ZELO will not be joined to the same group, so pro players have less chances to fight at early stage of competition!

Groups and Results

The group phase were a couple of weeks which led the 1vs1 league to its highest activity ever. Sadly several players had to be removed because of inactivity. In the 8th finals moonpix (aka taz) eliminated the last contest winner gilly in a hard fight. The most merciless fight took place in the semifinals. In a long night, wizard won against moonpix in a 90 minutes sadistic war of nerves. The first kill in the first match took 20 minutes... Meanwhile, the second of the last contest, Destructionboy, made his way into the final, winning all matches 2-0. The final was a fast, equal and uncompromising battle. When it was 9-9 in the deciding third match, they doublekilled and Destructionboy`s fingers were the tiny bot of 0,1 seconds faster than wizard`s. A dignified final!
