Player registration & management
- All 1vs1 League players have to be registered:
- Players have to be registered at the BZBB (official BZFlag forums) before they can join the 1vs1 League.
- Players officially register themselves for the 1vs1 League simply via the OneVsOne plug-in by using the in-game slash command /ovso register OR they use the web registration interface.
The OneVsOne plug-in is installed on all official match servers (see below) and is recommended for player registration!
- Once a player is registered for the 1vs1 League (s)he is allowed to play official matches. If the registration attempt fails, inform the responsible 1vs1 authorities please! (Check the Contact page for further information.)
This enables them to play official 1vs1 League matches and helps us to avoid/avenge abuse or improper behaviour (cheating, flouting, ...).
- More than one account per player isn't allowed. If one thinks to have a good reason, let us know and we'll decide if it would be okay or not.
- Match results for players will be entered automatically. A player will be identified by bzID and not by callsign. This has the following side effects:
- Callsign changes at the BZBB doesn't have to be announced to the 1vs1 League by players.
- Callsign changes might not been recognized at the 1vs1 web page until a player played an official match.
- Callsigns of different players (different bzIDs) might appear several times at the 1vs1 pages (reason: read above).
- Players who have deleted their old BZBB account but registered again later have to inform the 1vs1 League authorities to merge both profiles for this league if they want that.
- Players being recognized for cheating or any other kind of improper behaviour can be excluded from any further official 1vs1 League matches (or can be penalized in any other way). There exists no limitation of time for penalties!
Match rules
- 1vs1 matches have to be played on official 1vs1 match servers (see below).
- Matches can be started by using the "official command" (send to all: /ovso match official; /official is obsolete!). If both players declare the match to be official, the score will be stored, sent to the 1vs1 League website (immediately via plug-in as well as once a day via e-mail) and finally entered and count for the monthly tourney!
- classic & fancy style 1vs1 matches are FFA mode, 2 shots, ricochet, no jumping, no superflags, random map.
- hix style 1vs1 matches are FFA mode, 3 shots, ricochet, jumping, no superflags, hix map.
- dupi style 1vs1 matches are FFA mode, 2 shots, ricochet, no jumping, no superflags, special ducati-pillbox map.
- The player who first gets 10 deaths loses the game.
- The winner gets 3 points while the loser gets 1 point for the monthly tourney.
- Draws are impossible. If after a 9-9 both players are killed at the same time, it is actually the first one that got shot that loses. The logs will be used if any doubt exists.
- A match has to be restarted if one of the players (re)spawns on a map position where it's impossible to move. This covers the example when a part of the map is sealed by buildings where the player can't get out. Individual handling of this rule is possible if both opponents agree. (In theory it would be best to avoid playing on maps where this rule could be relevant. Do a /superkill to get a new map.)
- Official 1vs1 matches must be played by registered players.
If the global player authentication fails because of listserver or match server issues both opponents are allowed to play official matches, but the results have to be reported by the players to the 1vs1 authorities then! (Check the Contact page for further information.)
- Each month there will be a winner according to the score. In case of equal scores the player ranking depends on the number of match wins and the first date of reaching the final score (order: score > #wins > date).
- A permanent ELO rating system (called ZELO) will indicate a strength index of each player. (Click here for a ZELO rating explanation)
This kind of player ranking has been removed since it seems to cause more headache and discussion than it's worth it. For historic reasons the formula stays online.
- Neither bothering nor flouting or cheating are allowed.
